Applying for a job?

Applicants, please read before sending us your resumé.

When we put out an ad for a job, we are serious about hiring people. A lot of thought went into the ad and the corresponding job listings online. So before you even start writing a cover letter. Please read the contents of the listings carefully.

If the listing says, “strong understanding of language”, that means you cannot have spelling errors and typos in your resumé. Just run the spell checker. Also, we’re looking for people that know the difference between, “two, too, and to”. I wonder how some of these applicants got through high school with the mistakes they make. Please, just have a friend or family member proofread the damn thing.

If the listing is for a computer job, please use a computer to type up your resumé. If possible, please use a computer to print out the envelope too.

If the listing is for a design job, we’re going to be looking at how the paper is folded, what color is used on the resumé, fonts, margins, every little detail you could possibly imagine.

Now, I know we were all taught to write resumés with objective statements and end with “I will be an asset to your company”, but do you realize that we were ALL taught that. What makes you different? Why should I hire you instead of the next applicant with the same cover letter and same qualifications?
